PEACHTREE CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE (modified)

The Peachtree City Police Department will be hosting a Teen Community Emergency Response Team (TEEN CERT) "summer camp" the week of June 05 to June 09, 2023.

The classes will be held Monday through Friday of that week, ending on June 09. The classes will start at 8:00a and end at 12:30p each day. The camp will be held in the training room at the Police Station located at 350 S. Hwy 74, Peachtree City, Ga.

The TEEN CERT Program educates young adults about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Prospective candidates must be between 13 and 17 years of age at the time of registration and a resident of Georgia. Applicants will be required to complete an enrollment form and applicable waivers. The application and waivers must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. A local check will be conducted to determine the background of the participants as a pre-condition to acceptance into the program.

There is no charge to attend this class; however, the class size will be limited to 20 students. A meeting with the parents/legal guardians of those admitted into the program will be held prior to the first class.

Applications are available here on the CERT PTC website (pdf) or at the police department.

The application deadline is May 31, 2023.
